That exam feels like it went better than I expected...

Dammit, I wish I knew why I panicked so much last night. The anxiety was so bad, I couldn’t get up from the floor for two hours when I sat down in my room. But then I walked into the exam, sat down, and answered what I knew to the best of my ability, and drove home like nothing happened...Everything just feels normal now.

Sorry to cause anyone any worry, if anyone was worried...

I am always wary when I sit down for an exam and before it begins I feel absolutely fine. If you feel really confident it means there is something you don’t know. Feeling that way only after being through mid test though is the only gut feeling I trust that I am doing alright.

That’s anxiety. It’s a jerk. Glad the exam went well!

Well I said I think, and hope it went well. It felt like it went sorta well, I’m not sure if it went well. But I’m hoping for the best.

Do you do any yoga? Sometimes it can help focus me before stressful stuff like that. At the very least it separates physical from mental stress so it splits the task into more manageable pieces, if that makes sense.

Anxiety attacks are just fleeting moments. Sure, they’re painful, but they will pass as if nothing’s happened, which I can tell from experience. Understanding this is the first step in conquering anxiety.

I try to get some exercise at least 2-3 times a week burn some energy and blow off some steam. I do understand your meaning though. I wasn’t able to do so until tonight though, I prioritized studying over physical activity.

I hadz that car....I sold it for a loss after I ended up overseas for 5 years and couldn’t work on it (My unemployed friend vowed too, but only touched it 1 day before I returned).

Exams can wear you out. I wasn’t that bad, but I have 3 degrees and 1 class from a 4th. I’ve taken alot of classes. Here’s my recommendation...if the teacher gives you means NOT to take the final exam, do it.

Example: Chemistry teacher said he’ll drop the lowest exam, to include the final. There were 5 tests. I had a 98, 90, 87, 93. No matter what I did, I was passing with a solid B. I had to take the final because I didn’t have a 90 on every test, but I showed up...drew a picture of Batman on the exam and walked out in 5 minutes.

I’ve had many other teachers do the same. If you can take that escape clause...work hard to do it! It saves the nerves.

This is where I feel like I left something out last night, (this is totally going to seem like a 20/20 hindsight sort of thing, but...) and what I should have said about your exam is that if you try your damndest and understand the basics, you can almost always eke out a “C”, no matter how unprepared you think you are.

I’m really happy for you, bro.

Also, have you ever tried anxiety meds? They work pretty well.

That’s how anxiety and depression work. There isn’t so much a thing that causes the reaction, rather the reaction latches onto any thing that it can find.

Take it from someone who’s been there- even if you feel better today the underlying cause is still there. You might want to talk to someone. I don’t know about yours, but my school had free mental health services for students. It might help to just go in and talk to someone.

Like I said, I’ve been there, and I didn’t do anything about it between freak-outs and, well, it didn’t end well for me.
